The title is a joke, but seriously... what's going on?!

I taught my first lesson a few weeks ago and the students were so well-behaved that at the end even my mentor teacher was complimenting them for behaving. I have observed her and they often get corrected on their behavior - multiple times.

When I stood in front of the class, man... they were all quiet. I was thinking "WTF?" haha. They engaged with me throughout the lesson as well. There were zero disruptions and they were completely quiet unless I made them speak.

When I was done with my lesson, they suddenly started clapping for me. They've been so nice!

I shouldn't be complaining, but still.....

The problem? I'm not learning classroom management this way. Should I encourage them to raise some hell in the classroom next time I have to teach?

They are 7th grade students in case anyone was wondering.

Несколько недель назад я провела свой первый урок, и ученики вели себя настолько хорошо, что в конце даже мой наставник похвалила их за хорошее поведение. Я наблюдала за ней, и она часто делала им замечания по поводу их поведения — причем неоднократно.

Когда я встал перед классом, они все замолчали. Я подумал: "Что за фигня?", ха-ха. Они активно участвовали в уроке. Никаких помех не было, и они вели себя совершенно тихо, если я их не заставлял говорить.

Когда я закончила урок, они вдруг начали мне аплодировать. Они были такими милыми!

Мне бы не стоило жаловаться, но всё же...

В чём проблема? Я не учусь управлению классом таким образом. Может, мне стоит в следующий раз, когда мне придётся преподавать, поощрять их устраивать беспорядки в классе?

I actually spoke a guy at the school and asked him if he was a teacher, he said he was and then I said I’m an intern here. He replied with you’re lucky to be here, this is the best school. Thank you brother!
