My best friend was severely abused as a kid, his father died when he was 13, hardly knows his mother, lives on his own, and has a plethora of medical problems which keep him in physical agony every day and doctors can't figure out what's causing them. He was raised mostly by his grandparents who are of course old so he has to make sure they're doing ok all the time, always drinks and does drugs, and works every single day for nobody to appreciate him. If he killed himself I'd be devastated but I couldn't blame him. He practically has nothing left to live for. Don't assume everyone lives the same life that as you or your friend who died.
