It depends on where you are on the fietzpatrick scale as well as how much melanin you have already built up (from UVB expousure) on top of that.
jaa, i got pretty pale skin, i had freckles when i was like 7, i can still tan regularly i dont just get red n shieeet

I'm pretty dark for a 50% swedish 50% finnish person. I'm fietzpatrick 4. And I also have near perfect circadian habits and health in general. That makes a huge difference as well. Circadian disruption will make you way less tolerable and will make you recover from the "damage" a lot slower. I put damage in quotation marks because describing it using the word damage can be misleading imo. In appropiate doses with everything else in check(diet, lifestyle, sleep), it's an eustress, ie. it is stressful on the body, but it's supposed to be there and you recover from it, and the damage is actually an important signal for many functions in the body. UVB induced DNA damage will actually make your body overcompensate as long as you don't get way too much of it at once, that means that the damage is a trigger for certain recovery pathways, and those get activated enough to repair the damage and some(they repair the damage AND do even more). The mainstream parroting of "sun causes DNA damage, avoid it" is so stupid and dangerous. It's like saying "exercise causes DNA damage, avoid it". Or even "eating causes DNA damage, avoid it". With that last example it's obvious how ridicolous that oversimplification is. Sorry for yapping so much lol, this is a topic I am very educated on. And I like educating others on it as I understand how important it is. I have no trouble at all being outdoors all day on a sunny summer day in Sweden. I don't burn at all. I can even be out multiple hours in Greece at midday whrn it's sunny without burning. But the thing is, I wasn't always like this. A big reason why I can do this now is my diet and other habits. I used to get horribly burnt after like 2h in UV4 lol

It's hard for me to say an exact number of hours or even give a range. I'd say just experiment and you'll easily see where you're at and what's appropriate for you

Freckles are generally pretty rare in fitzpatrick 3 and above. You're probably 2. I'd guess that about an hour in UV5/6 is a good dose for you. Try to do it around greenery if you can as leaves and grass and bushes reflect near infrared light which helps offset uv induced damage and helps your skin repair. It's also very good for subcellular melatonin production and collagen/elastin production(two things that UV degrade, so getting that reflected NIR from plants will offset the negative effects of uv on collagen and elastin). Infrared light is heat btw. If you touch a leaf or grass when it's sunny you'll see that contrary to stones, wood, glass, metal..., they're not hot, that's because almost all of the infrared light is reflected🥰
