Supplement Guide

If you encounter any issues or problems with the guide please let me know.

All of this information will come from the following sources:

Just a simple guide for anyone interested in supplements. This could be much more detailed in the actual biology of supplements but I decided to stick to the basics, and may create a V2 of this based on the way supplements are absorbed etc.

What are Supplements
Cambridge dictionary definition: a product containing one or more vitamins, minerals, or other substances that the body needs to be healthy, which someone takes to make sure they have enough of substances that may be missing from the food they eat.

What this means basically is that if you lack in vitamins or minerals you could take supplements to boost this intake. Yet overtaking these may result in problems. This is because homeostasis regulates body functions through this minerals and vitamins, so overloading on supplements may result in overstimulation of systems within your body depending on what your taking.

Methods of taking supplements
You may choose any method depending on how quick, effective or regular you want your supplements to be.

Forms
Affects
TabletsSlower rate of absorption
CapsulesPlant based shells, fast absorption
PowdersRapid absorption into bloodstream
LiquidsQuick absorption

Some effective supplements
  • Omega 3: Good for skin, heart health
  • Vitamin A: skin, eye sight
  • D3/K2 together: Great for calcium absorption
  • Iron: Great for fatigues and tiredness
  • Ashwagandha: Wellbeing, muscle recovery
  • Creatine: Performance for gym

Why do people call supplements cope

Its mainly because of the lack of evidence behind these supplements working. There are much better things you could do than supplements yet they are good to add onto the side if you are deficient in some things. Also placebo effects may take into account as you could think its working when it may be something else improving whatever your trying to improve. You can try theses supplements of your choice to see if it works for you but generally they lack in any obvious changes to appearance or general health from studies.

This was just a quick guide as I was bored, as said before may make a more detailed V2 of this if anyone is interested yet I'm aware theres much more you could do than supplements.

Thanks for reading!
