On a diet with highly restricted calories should t3 be supplemented at replacement dose of 25mcg a day to keep metabolism up, and not tank thyroid / return it to optimal levels while still in large deficit?

what is the mechanism that t3 increases metabolism?

Would you lose muscle mass, i hear t3 is catabolic, which im not sure if true? i hit my protein intake daily within my calorie restriction.

does replacement dose of t3 cause bloating? i saw this as a side effect somewhere of t3, but not sure if it applies to replacement dose.

How long for regular thyroid function to return after stopping t3 supplements?

Any side effects at replacement dose?

I do not intend on taking more than 25mcg a day since that is the replacement dose i think.

Kys retard stop talking pills for everything cuz u don' want to go through the effort of doing this naturally.
If u want to lose weight lose weight it isn't fucking hard

it just tell the cells do there thing
lack of t3 causes bloating
t3 is as the same time anabolic and catabolic

use replacements dosage of 25-50mcg for a hard diet no side effects

It's really hard to mirror natural T3 production in the body correctly (this is also why T4 is given to hypothyroid people, as you can just build up a reservoir of T4 precursor, which the body converts to T3 as needed).

Try to keep simple carbs and protein *high and frequent* during a restrictive diet. for example, fruit or glass of juice or milk between meals. this will prevent excessive downregulation of t3 production in liver.

If Cytomel (exogenous t3) is used, you can try to approximate the physiological rate of T3 formation, by nibbling one (10 to 25 mcg) tablet during the day. When a large amount is taken at one time, the liver is likely to convert much of it to the inactive reverse T3 form, in a normal defensive response.

Technically if your thyroid function is healthy then you don't need t3 for moderate diets (~500-750cal deficit) lasting less than 8-10 weeks.

if u were in prolonged deficit and then went to maintenance, how long for thyroid to return?

prolonged = how long?
8 weeks?
12 weeks?
24 weeks?

Note that when T3 is downregulated then body raises TSH in response. TSH is itself pathogenic because of its pro-inflammatory actions. It directly affects many cells other than thyroid. If anything you should consider taking t4 thyroxine during diet which is more potent in suppressing TSH.

Therefore, it is wise to ensure the deficit (500-750cals) doesn't last longer than 8-12 weeks.

To answer the second half of your question, thyroid upregulates almost immediately (few days) after going back to maintenance. You can observe this by tracking resting rate.
