Last year, I stayed over at my uncle’s place. My two male cousins live there, aged 18 and 16. They went to school everyday barring Sunday, and after school, they also went to an academy every day. One day, I decided to tag along and drop them off at their academy.

I’ve seen Japanese dramas, so I already knew what to expect. Basically another high school, but for afternoon classes.

So we’re walking to the academy, about 10 minutes in, my cousins say “We’re here.”

I’m like, “What the helly? I thought you were going to an academy, this is just some random uncle’s house.”

They’re like, “No, this isn’t a random house, this is our academy.”

I was flabbergasted.

Turns out their “academy” is just some random nigga’s house where they get tutored with other dudes from the neighborhood.

They still go to their “academy,” but when on the phone my aunt says they’re there, I just correct them and say “Academy? You mean some uncle’s house.”

That’s it, that’s the tale from Punjab. :Animedance:

:feelskek::feelskek::feelskek::feelskek::feelskek: This is so accurate.

I bet your mind was blown when you went to an actual high school in the west.
JFL not really bhai except the mixing part. Actual schools in Pakistan are really big. These small schools in pakistan are usually for pampered rich kids. Middle class kids like me used to go to these humongous schools size of a small town

Woah, that’s crazy. I was watching a vlog of this Pakistani exchange student guy and he was like wow, this is so different compared to back home. But he was from GB, so it makes sense.

paki kids that can afford to go to gb or US for studies usually study in cambridge-style small schools that are made for elite rich kids. They teach A/O levels over there.
Poor or middle class people like us used to be taught matric school system.

They’re those burger types, right? I don’t know A/O levels + matric, in the Netherlands we have an entirely different system. Are you in college now? (In the UK, college is basically 16-18 year olds; they use the word ‘university’ instead, whereas Americans say college).

We use the term university as well, we used to say college. And mirin bhaijaan, what are you majoring in? I’m majoring in Education to become an English teacher. :Animedance: I start my internship soon. I’ll be posting updates. I’m doing my internship at a high school. Don’t have more details, so I don’t know what grade they will be yet but we will see.

Interesting! Our proper/typical universities also offer 3 year studies, but our so-called universities of applied science only offer 4 year studies.

Mirin my big brain bhaijaan. My best friend studied nano-biology at university but he dropped out, he felt inadequate. It’s funny because when I was in high school, both my English teachers said I should become one as well, I didn’t want that at the time, hellbent on becoming a male nurse but now here we are. Glad to hear you have a positive opinion on English teachers. :Animedance: And yeah, I had gotten bored of the forum, I had become uninterested but that’s normal. I’ve always had those kind of cycles, even as a user. I’ll be more active again now. I’ll shoot you a PM sometime this week, just to catch up. :peepoW:

Damn; she broke up with you? Sorry to hear that bhaijaan, you always have me though. :Animedance: And dang, you’re on roids now. Be careful, I’d do a medical check first to see if you don’t have any heart-related diseases. That’s how Zyzz tragically died at 21 or so.

Tbh its not cuz i am sad or anything but I just realize that me and her needed a break cuz we both were going batshit insane in the end. I will try to get her back in future once I am gymcelled and normal. I was too insecure with her and caused her lots of pain.
