Sleep loss dramatically lowers testosterone in healthy young men

The effects of sleep loss on testosterone levels were apparent after just one week of short sleep. Five hours of sleep decreased their testosterone levels by 10% to 15%. The young men had the lowest testosterone levels in the afternoons on their sleep restricted days, between 2 pm and 10 pm.

Smoking during pregnancy has well-documented negative effects on birth weight in infants and is linked to several childhood health problems. Now, researchers have found that prenatal marijuana use also can have consequences on infants' weight and can influence behavior problems, especially when combined with tobacco use.

They could identify a large number of genes that were altered in smokers but found no such effect of non-smoke tobacco.

It has been previously known that smokers have an increased risk of developing diabetes and many types of cancer, and have a reduced immune defence and lower sperm quality. The results from the study also showed that genes that increase the risk for cancer and diabetes, or are important for the immune response or sperm quality, are affected by smoking.

idc estrogenic men pose less competition

After only four years of problem drinking, a significant decrease in the function of the serotonin system in women’s brains can be seen. This is the system that regulates such functions as impulse control and mood. It takes 12 years before a corresponding decrease is seen in men.

A common disorder that impairs fertility by producing an overabundance of insulin may be naturally treatable through meal timing. Research indicates that an increased caloric intake at breakfast can lead to lower levels of testosterone and a dramatic increase in ovulation frequency.

Fathers-to-be should avoid alcohol six months before conception

Drinking alcohol three months before pregnancy or during the first trimester was associated with a 44% raised risk of congenital heart disease for fathers and 16% for mothers, compared to not drinking. Binge drinking, defined as five or more drinks per sitting, was related to a 52% higher likelihood of these birth defects for men and 16% for women.

Sperm count 50 percent lower in sons of fathers who smoke

Studies have repeatedly linked maternal smoking during pregnancy with reduced sperm counts in male offspring. Now a research team has discovered that, independently of nicotine exposure from the mother, men whose fathers smoked at the time of pregnancy had half as many sperm as those with non-smoking fathers.

Unlike the maternal ovum, the father's gametes divide continuously throughout life and mutations often occur at the precise moment of cell division. We know that tobacco smoke contains many substances that cause mutations so one can imagine that, at the time of conception, the gametes have undergone mutations and thereby pass on genes that result in reduced sperm quality in the male offspring.

Most newly occurring mutations (known as de novo mutations) come via the father and there are also links between the father's age and a number of complex diseases. In addition, researchers have observed that smoking is linked to DNA damage in sperm and that smokers have more breaks in the DNA strand. Children of fathers who smoke have been reported to have up to four times as many mutations in a certain repetitive part of the DNA as children of non-smoking fathers.

Older but *healthy* is preferable to younger

The study found that children of older fathers not only inherit longer telomeres, which are DNA found at the ends of chromosomes, but that the association of paternal age with offspring telomere length is cumulative across multiple generations. Shorter telomeres seem to be a cause of ill health that occurs with aging -- longer telomeres seem to promote slower aging.

It appears that as men delay reproduction, they will pass on longer telomeres to offspring, which may facilitate extension of life span and allow reproducing at older ages.

Be involved in raising YOUR fucking child quit expecting some bitch to raise them or develop a genetic connection to YOUR child! muh career

Researchers found that during the face-to-face sessions, the babies' brains were synchronized with the adult's brain in several areas known to be involved in high-level understanding of the world.

When the adult and infant were turned away from each other and engaging with other people, the coupling between them disappeared.

For example, the strongest coupling occurred in the prefrontal cortex, which is involved in learning, planning and executive functioning and was previously thought to be quite underdeveloped during infancy.

We found that epigenetic changes had occurred in infant's DNA, and that this change was predicted by the quality of the mother's involvement in the play session. If mothers were particularly involved in the game with their children, there was a greater reduction in DNA methylation of the oxytocin receptor gene one year later. Decreased DNA methylation in this region has previously been associated with increased expression of the oxytocin receptor gene. Thus, greater maternal involvement seems to have the potential to upregulate the oxytocin system in human offspring," explains the scientist. "Importantly, we also found that the DNA methylation levels reflected infant temperament, which was reported to us by the parents. The children with higher methylation levels at 18-months, and presumably lower levels of oxytocin receptor, were also more temperamental and less well balanced.

Hmmmm i wonder if a flood of processed, and estrogenated foods has lowered T in society?

Also I wonder if there was scores and scores of free hardcore porn 20 years ago all over the place and kids and men are encouraged to be a total jerk off their whole lives, I wonder if anything like that has been going on?

I also wonder if female birth control hormones have entered and contaminated every single water supply on earth hmmmmmmm?????

Low testosterone is just one effect of the new lifestyle everyone has where they sit around and never exercise, eat shit food, get fat, and never get the right amount of sleep. People cope with a bunch of small stuff like eating certain foods and getting certain vitamins but if you eat well, not a bunch of carbs and processed shit, get some exercise, go outside, and get enough sleep, youll have good testosterone levels

I already knew to try and not masturbate, eat/drink well, exercise, sleep, etc. but seeing as how this affects the very fiber or a man's being hit me like a brick wall. And the fact that it has such long term ramifications if not deal with is actually insane.

Will no longer masturbate, will exercise more, sleep minimum 8 hours, and eat/drink far better

im so tired of the fucking bullshit of posts like these. everytime you search about testosterone declien is the same answer: "muh sleep, muh eat the right foods, muh smoking, muh alcohol" FUCKIGN BULLSHIT. Humans smoke for dozens of thousands of years, our generation has lower t and smoke way less. ITS ABOUT THE FUCKING CHEMICHALS WE INHALE EVERYWHERE. From the pesticides on your food. From the plastic that touches everything. From the car polution. From even the FUCKING paint of your home. From all this low quality mass production shit we have nowadays. Its impossible to study the effects of all those chemicals.

Gym training for strength
wrong

if anything that would decrease it

strength training raises levels of inflammatory cytokines -> increased cortisol -> decreased testosterone

Exercise (particularly weight lifting) is a stressor, increasing levels of inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-6 (inflammation is part of the process to repair muscle). Young men who complain about their low testosterone results on a bloodtest online nearly always have two thing in common. 1. They're fat, and if not, 2. they hit the gym a lot. All the fools who say "LIFTING AND COMPOUND MOOBMINTS INCREASE T BRO!" leave out the fact that it only increases it ACUTELY, which then ends after the exercise session ceases. This has no effect besides a rise in blood pressure and neural drive from increased androgen signaling. Since the half-life of T is about an hour in the blood, that's how long this increase lasts. The stress from exercise raises cortisol and prolactin, which inhibits GnRH, LH/FSH, etc signaling.

This is why powerlifters experience a surge of anabolic hormones once they stop training:

Quitting gymceling increases T

If you want to increase your natural testosterone, don't go to the gym. And especially don't do compound movements and powerlifting.

Chemicals in the soil, water, air, and then to the plants and animals thus food. This is being deliberately done. That's why I don't care if men go batshit crazy and act out anymore. This society deserves it.
