Top athletes have always been at the top of the totem poll. However, with AI replacing many societal roles, the athlete lifestyle will stick out even more than it always has.
In a "sport" such as chess, AI has been able to consistently eclipse professionals since IBM developed Deep Thought in the 90s. Nowadays, there are multiple AIs that can destroy Magnus Carlsen, and engine tournaments are used to determine the most advanced AI. However, Magnus Carlsen is able to generate millions of views online and is more interesting to most chess fans than AI battles that only take a few minutes to set up and publish on YouTube and can be watched much quicker than a match between human professionals.
Now consider actual sports—AI is nowhere near the point of "replacing" them in terms of popularity. Sports are increasing in popularity as evidenced by the market transfer values of players. Mbappe recently received a £258m contract bid from Saudi Arabia, which completely eclipses record bids from just a decade ago (even after accounting for inflation).
TL;DR: The gap between athletes and normies is growing increasingly wider, accelerated by AI.

Athleticism is a significant component of male SMV
Including, but not limited to: Fighting Running Jumping Swimming Lifting Flexibility Reaction time Regardless of physical attractiveness, I would argue that athleticism could account for at least 10-20% of male SMV.
