What is hyperpigmentation?
Hyperpigmentation is areas of the skin that are noticeably darker than the rest of your skin. This causes an uneven skin tone and can tremendously help the way you look if fixed. It is caused by melanocytes ( skin cell) producing too much melanin that can be caused by: Sun exposure, inflammation (PIHP- Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation) etc. Many people have dark skin around their eyes, those with darker skin colours it's a lot more noticeable
You can see how much better her skin looks just by defeating hyperpigmentation. The darker your skin colour the more rewarding this will be. Don't listen to copers saying you should embrace the darkness or whatever its a known fact that uneven skin tone looks bad on everybody.
How to get rid of it?
Tretinoin
The first step is going to be tretinoin. Tretinoin is a retinoid which increases cell turnover and increases collagen as well as dispersing melanin. It is going to strip the pigmented cells and reveal the colour underneath.
Procedure:
1) Tretinoin 0.025%
2) Use a pea sized amount and apply to the skin
3) Apply once a week to start then add a day each week or do it every other day
4) Cycle for 3 months
You can keep applying tretinoin longer if you like the reason for the 3 months is because it aligns with the next product
Hydroquinone
This is still standing as the best product for hyperpigmentation. It works by inhibiting tyrosinase which is the enzyme responsible for melanin conversion and also disrupts melanosome distribution whilst of course suppressing melanocyte activity. It can be used to lighten specific areas or the whole face. If you apply it to the whole face you might get unwanted skin lightening ( directed towards whiter people). However if you are somebody of darker skin colour this may be beneficial to you.
Procedure:
1) Hydroquinone 4%
2) Use a pea sized amount
3) Apply to desired areas or on the whole face
4) Apply daily once at night or optionally once in the morning too.
5) Cycle for 3 months
IMPORTANT: DO NOT USE FOR OVER 3 MONTHS OR ELSE YOU WILL GET DARKER AND AREAS BECOME DARKER
Procedure:
1) Azelaic acid cream 20% formulation
2) Apply daily in the morning after washing face and before moisturiser/SPF
Procedure:
1) LA ROCHE-POSAY 50+ UVA UVB Invisible fluid
2) Apply daily
3) Reapply throughout the day

Azelaic Acid
This can come as a cream or serum but the cream is superior don't get some bs off of amazon lol. This is also going to help a lot by: inhibiting tyrosinase, anti-inflammatory, skin turnover, keratinocyte differentiation.Procedure:
1) Azelaic acid cream 20% formulation
2) Apply daily in the morning after washing face and before moisturiser/SPF
Sun cream
This is a no brainer. The sun exposure to the skin stimulates melanin production and with the products above your skin is going to be even more sensitive so SPF must be applied daily. For darker skin types you should avoid sun creams with white cast because its going to make you skin seem darker. You should use SPF 50+ UVA+UVB protection. I personally recommend the LA ROCHE-POSAY invisible fluid 50+ UVA+UVB. The sun is the strongest between 11 am and 2 pm so wearing between these hours is a must.Procedure:
1) LA ROCHE-POSAY 50+ UVA UVB Invisible fluid
2) Apply daily
3) Reapply throughout the day
