Currently, my age is 15 and I have just started to wear elastic bands in order to fix my minable and occlusion. Something to keep in mind is the fact that I have gotten a palatal expansion already and the bone has healed. Will I become resseced if I use my elastics and will it make my palate width smaller? Many user have made claims about this and I hope with your answers they will be put to rest. Thank you.

I had patal expansion will that be alr
obviously not because palate expansion is only for the width of the palate, you also have to think about the width of the mandible and the forward growth of the mandible and maxilla

I believe it to be circumstantial. For example, if elastics are being used in order to correct a Class II malocclusion, it’ll recess your maxilla and fuck your development. If it’s for correcting something like a midline shift, it could be beneficial to your overall craniofacial development. Could you elaborate more as to what alignment issues are being corrected? (Overbite, Underbite, Crossbite, etc.)

I have an underbite
The purpose of elastics in correcting an underbite is to advance the maxilla and guide the mandible backward in order to correct your occlusion. Considering you’re young, you could certainly see some luck with elastics. But depending on the severity you might end up needing surgery. Just remember, the effectiveness of your treatment depends entirely on how consistently you wear them.

Let me know if you have any photos or especially X-rays you could PM me. It’s harder to provide specific advice when I’m unable to see the severity of your case.

What would it do for overbite and crossbite
