WHAT THE HELL ARE NOOTROPICS?

nootropics: A branch of pharmaceuticals simply used for cognitive enhancement (memory, focus, information retention, information processing, etc). Some are synthetic, and some are naturally occurring.

WHY SHOULD YOU USE NOOTROPICS?

Don't you wanna get smart? rich? successful in whatever field you want to reach or are in? all of silicon valley uses them, why shouldn't you? This may feel like cheating, but who cares. It's about being at the top of your game, always, and with something safe as nootropics, they will give you an edge that nothing else can besides discipline.

What?!?! How come I haven't been using these earlier", you have.

"brah I need my coffee in the morning brah", caffeine, the most classic nootropic/performance enhancing stimulant. Found over the counter, one of the most used nootropics out there. Caffeine, a CNS stimulant, blocks adenosine receptors in the brain. This receptor when blocked, leads to increased alertness, wakefulness, and increased overall cognitive performance. Another wonderful nootropic that you have been using unknowingly, is L theanine (found in tea) . L theanine is an amino acid, increasing GABA levels, dopamine, and serotonin, hence why it gives you a calming, but also alert feel. It is also widely used for sleep by many.

Enough said, time to give a list of compounds to use for motivation, wakefulness, and focus.
MAKE SURE YOU USE A CHOLINE SOURCE!

BEGINNER COMPOUNDS

Alpha GPC(choline donor) - boosts acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter critical for memory, attention, and neuroplasticity. highly bioavailable
Effective dosage: 200mg - 600mg(depending on what you stack it with)

CDP choline(citicoline) - discovered in japan in the 50s for recovery from stroke, or cognitive decline, later found great use with memory, attention and focus, brain energy, and motivation.
Effective dosage: 200mg-500mg.

Choline Bitartrate(choline) - A synthetic form of choline, it helps with supporting acetylcholine production, liver function, and great for adding to nootropic stacks(this is the worst choline source).
Effective dosage: 500mg-1g, can go up to 1.2g.

Piracetam - Synthesized in belgium by a Romanian psychologist and chemist, this nootropic was initially used to treat motion sickness, but later found to have cognitive enhancing properties. It enhances glutamate neurotransmission, and interacts with the acetylcholine system. Used in countries like India, Russia, and many other European countries.
Effective dosage : 1g - 1.5g (you can go up to 2.5g later down)

L theanine - As I mentioned, an amino acid found in tea.
Effective dosage:
100mg-400mg

Caffeine - As I mentioned, a CNS stimulant, that blocks adenosine receptors.
Effective dosage: 100mg-300mg

Bacopa Monieri(Brahmi) - A herb used for centuries in Indian medicine, a naturally occurring adaptogen(helps your body adapt to stress). Improves memory, cognition, and focus.
Effective dosage: 100mg-350mg

Rhodiola Rosea - Another adaptogen, used in europe, and also improves mental stamina and overall brain energy. Increases dopemine in the brain, and enhances ATP synthesis.
Effective dosage: 200-600mg

Noopept(Omberacetam) - Developed in the 90s in Russia, for cognitive enhancement, it protects the brain from oxidative stress, improves memory, focus, and attention. Increased BDNF and NGF, promoting neurogenesis and synaptic repair.
Effective dosage: 10mg to 30mg(oral), 5mg-7mg(intranasal)

stack noopept, and or piracetam with a choline source. Always have a choline source no matter what you use.

INTERMIDIATE COMPOUNDS

Phenylpiracetam - it is way more potent then piracetam. The reason for this is because of the addition of a phenyl ring, which leads to increased blood brain barrier absorption. Unlike piracetam, this will give you effects immediately, and is wonderful for studying.
Effective dosage: 100mg-200mg 1-3 times daily

Fasoracetam - A more newer racetam, with a stronger affinity to the Gaba-B receptor, also modulating the acetylcholine and glutamate systems. Gaba-B interaction allows for lower anxiety, and a more relaxed state. With prolonged use, it can increase sensitivity of the Gaba-B receptor. This nootropic can also increase focus and attention at higher doses.
Effective dosage: 10-30mg 2-3 times daily

Modafinil - Originally developed for narcolepsy, a stronger version of caffeine and used off label for increasing productivity and focus.
Effective dosage: 100-250mg

Semax(intranasal) - A synthetic peptide ACTH(Adrenocorticotropic hormone, a hormone produced by the anterior pituitary gland, responsible for controlling cortisol). Enhances memory, BDNF, and neuroplasticity.
Effective dosage: 300mcg-600mcg

Oxiracetam - A fast acting racetam, improving memory, attention, focus, logical reasoning, learning speed. Can also enhance synaptic plasticity and increase neuroprotection.
Effective dosage: 750mg-1.5g 1-3 times a day

Bromantane(intranasal) - Increasing dopamine by upregulating tyrosine hydroxylase(more precursing to dopamine), anxiolytic and stimulant-like.
Effective dosage - 5mg-10mg

9-Me-BC - A dopaminergic nootropic designed to promote neurogenesis of dopamine neurons. Used for mood, motivation, and productivity as well.
Effective dosage: 10mg-50mg

ADVANCED COMPOUNDS

Cerebrolysin - A neuro peptide derived from big brain proteins, acts like BDNF, and mimics other endogenous neurotrophic factors like NGF, and GDNF. Given to stroke patients, and patients with Alzheimer it offers amazing neurogenesis related properties.
Effective dosage: 5mL-30mL(through IV or intramuscular injection)

Adderall - A CNS stimulant used for ADHD and Narcolepsy, promotes neurotransmitter release and blocks the reuptake of dopamine, and triggers the release of dopamine and norepinephrine.
Effective dosage for Adderall IR(Instant release): 5mg-10mg
Effective dosage for Adderall XR(extended release: 10mg-40mg

I just posted by accident its over:feelswhy:

do you take all of these?
Noopept, modafinil, alpha gpc, piracetam. I dont need anything for memory so I only take things for focus.

Have you ever taken Cerebrolysin? Or any of the other advanced compounds (Semax, Dihexa, etc.). If so how'd they make you feel?

Ive taken semax and I noticed taking higher doses helped me have way better attention and focus, with better discipline. I didn't take it regularly only because I only had a limited supply, but if you have a good source then you can make your own nasal spray at home and it can benefit you greatly. Haven't taken cerebrolysin because I am just too lazy and don't really need it but its wonderful.

Good thread
with personal use, do you feel sometimes potentially dependent on what you take? Have you had a day where you haven't taken anything and how did it feel?

If you use long term and hop off you will feel somethings off with you, but I only took my stack depending on the situation(Ex studying for an upcoming test, or just wanting to be ahead of my class in terms of syllabus)

Since I had a regiment of not using daily I didn't feel off, but I can tell you that taking these things definitely let you notice a difference in focus, short term memory, etc(depending on what you took). For example when I would come back from school, my brain would be fully knocked out(no energy to study, lethargic). But then I started taking modafinil after my lunch break and the after school lethargy would effectively be minimized near to none.
