What are yall's thoughts on the future of facial surgery? I believe that in the future for fixing recession in adults instead of just a surgery for example bimax I believe that a more biological approach is gonna be the norm so instead of just moving the bones by cutting them I believe the approach would be to change how they respond and behave to pressure which is the reason why kids can get facial growth easily with just proper tongue posture, its about cellular sensitivity and I believe that in the future there will be a way to fix recession on adults without the need for surgery, just making the environment the same as it was in kids to achieve natural bone growth since bone isnt a unmoving solid object but a adapting cell. What are yalls thought's?

There is much more awareness about healthy bite etc so more cases will be corrected during childhood/puberty via noninvasive methods.

But there still will be a lot of negletful parents and surgery will stay for those that did not get prevention early

I guess

Sadly alot of people just make kids and dont even know the basics of development, "looksmaxxing" going mainstream surely bring more awareness to these kind of stuff, about the surgery part, depending on the year I believe that in 20 years the "surgery" type I am talking about might be possible to achieve natural growth in bones even on recessed adults, I heard that this topic is being researched already as well since the big part of the difference between a adult and a kid is the sensitivity to the force applied

The only bones where constant pressure can make it change are the palate, because it has a fissure in the middle, and the alveolar portions of the maxilla and mandible, as those parts depend on teeth and are able to respond to pressure thanks to the periodontal ligament and dental nerves, which can modulate the relation between oscteoclasts and osteoblasts. Recession on the actual mandible and maxilla depends on genetics or malformations, and none of them have that dynamic system and therefore can't be estimulated to create or dissolve bone just by pressure.

I'll push back on the part of your saying of recession on maxilla and mandible depending fully on genetics since thats just completely wrong. The person can have good genetics but have recessed maxilla and mandible if the person grew up with bad habits for example mouth breathing and vice versa where a person who's nose breathing can have recessed maxilla and mandible because of genetics

Haven't you read the word malformations right after the word genetics????

Sorry, now that I looked at it recession is considered malformation, I mixed it up little bit, but yeah you are right
