The Mini Wing Genioplasty.
It's a variant of a genioplasty, where the cut is extended just short of the gonion, roughly just below one's wisdom tooth.
Why its superior to a traditional genioplasty:
- It will not create a 'notch' or 'step-off' which is commonly seen in large genioplasty movements.
- It is capable of much larger movements, up to 12mm safely, probably even more (It can essentially replace Bimax/ BSSO as long as your maxilla isn't too bad)
- It makes the chin AND anterior mandible appear WIDER from the front profile.
- Has much greater affect on the soft tissue of lower third.
In fact, the affect on the soft tissue is probably the most extraordinary thing about the surgery, and logically, due the nature of cut being a gigantic horseshoe shape , it can easily give the aesthetic results of BSSO + Traditional Genio (In most cases).
A quote from the scientific paper about it:
" The major advantage of the Mini Wing is its significant overall effect on the soft tissues of the lower
third of the face. The mandible being shaped like a horseshoe, its width is greater at the level of
molars than canines. Thus, the Mini Wing propulsion movement brings a larger basilar fragment
forward. (Fig 2) This bony contribution exerts a tension on all the soft tissues and particularly those
of the lateral inferior part of the face. On the contrary, classical genioplasty mobilizes only the soft
tissues of the chin region"
Insane result:
Gonna be planning the exact movements with my surgeon on Friday and hopefully I can get it done by mid October.
Seriously consider this procedure over bimax or genio if you're unhappy with your lower third. Some you might have already seen some crazy ascensions from just genio alone, now imagine what this could do...
(PLEASE DROP SOME REACTIONS CUS I DON'T WANNA BE A GREY, ALSO BTB TIER???)
