That type of person isn't succeeding in life unless he hits the jackpot, in which case his IQ would not matter anyways if he gets so lucky regardless

Grades correlate with IQ but they correlate the strongest with work, obviously 2 people who do the exact same work, the smarter one will get a better grade. But if someone doesn't decide to work, they will get a bad grade regardless.
Grades aren't a test of intelligence, they're a test of whether the teen will actually bother to study each day and make sure he studies the syllabus, which is what universities are looking for in the end.

yep i was the best second player in my basketball team while being pretty short (late bloomer) in martial arts i was avg i swimmed a lot cuz my mom never learnt to swim so she made us swim a lot and i was pretty bad in tenis
