Hitler did have some amazing military strategy, but towards the end, he made huge blunders which costed him the war. In the past, he had actually benefited from not listening to the generals at times, he thought it would be the same this time. Truly a stupid move from Hitler. History would be very different if not for such huge blunders at the end.

Well, it was almost their way of a last resort. It was simply the weather that beat the Germans, that is it. Stalin had decided that, "we will all die before the Germans take Moscow" and he stuck true to his word. If the winter didn't take them by surprise, there's no question a German victory was imminent at some point, despite Hitler's grave blunder sending troops south.
