My Balkan/Croatian classmate and I were invited by a 75% Dutch/25% Indonesian classmate in freshman year of high school, because we needed some help with math.

When it was 18:00, they asked us to leave so they could have dinner.

My classmate/friend and I were flabbergasted, because in our cultures it’s normal for guests to stay for dinner (not that I was thinking we would have dinner at his place, I just didn’t know it was going to be taking place while we were there).

Now I don’t remember if we came back afterwards or not to resume the tutoring because it was late 2008 or early 2009.
