Recently, I've noticed if I drink a little bit I start looking better, and also look better the next day. At first, I thought it was just a sort of placebo effect or maybe just my warped perception due to being slightly tipsy. But this idea started to leave me when I realized the morning after drinking, I definitely looked slightly leaner in the face and the body, as my abs would pop out slightly more and my cheeks would become less round. So I decided to do a little research/digging on the subject.

NOTE: This post isn't made to bring about new information or act like I've cracked some sort of code. Most people here probably know this, and it shouldn't be done often obviously. I just wanted to raise awareness for those who don't know and also provide a study I found that actually backs up this idea that most people already knew but maybe couldn't point to any hard data on.

In a research article published by the NIH, they did a small study test to see if subjects who consumed alcohol were rated more, less, or the same amount of attractiveness after consuming it. The study found that subjects who consumed a low dose of alcohol were actually rated more attractive than how they looked normally. The study also found subjects who drank high doses of alcohol were actually rated lower than how they looked normally.

Reasoning:
There are multiple reasons why subjects who consumed alcohol were deemed more attractive than how they look normally. The reasons can be a mix of the fact alcohol is a diuretic (causing fluid loss and therefore debloating the subject), alcohol causing positive coloring changes in the cheeks and face (such as more redness which indicates fertility, good blood flow, and overall health), alcohol causing subjects to act more outgoing and positive (leading to better interactions, facial expressions, stance/posture, and mood), and there may be other factors to this as well.

Note:

While this can come in handy at times, overconsumption of alcohol in the study shows a lower rating, and chronic alcohol consumption can lead to a multitude of negative changes in the body, one important change being weight gain.

Again, this post isn't my personal opinion and I am not encouraging anyone to do anything with it. I just found it interesting and wanted to share, as I thought it was kind of cool and could explain why people MAY look better during or the day after alcohol consumption. A few beers never hurt anyone!

Here is the study for those who wish to look over it:

The study says otherwise, and like I said in the post, this isn't something people should do often and I instead posted to simply discuss it

Yeah it is pretty bad, but like I said this post wasn't to encourage anyone and more so to bring awareness to WHY this might happen if someone drinks, not to encourage it

No I get it dw, I expected a bit of backlash. That's why I said multiple times in the post I wasn't saying to do it. I just was wondering myself why it happened to me, and decided to post about it so other people who might have seen the same effect could know maybe why it happened. Thank you
