mukasa doesn't do well because his appeal and image is geared to white people/gay. he's pushing a posh white boy look despite being a black man.
he will always do well because he is beautiful but that's not all that matters. it's going to be niche because of the market he has put himself in. the type of women who are not black who like him are going to be unconventional. it's kind of hard to describe the type of NB women who are into him, they're just not conventional. and the women who are conventional that like him are going to be a bit rare.
he's trying to compete with whites with his appearance rather than with other blacks. Tyson beckford, and broderick hunter are men that are 'black'.

people don't really like the dissonance of his image, and tyson and broderick would destroy mukasa any day of the week and twice on sundays. He also looks very much like a model in the non approachable sense. he rarely smiles and when he does he just looks like a fob.
