Simply put, there is almost no reward to doing in-depth research. If i want to give someone skincare advice, its much harder to go through a dermatology school, read PubMed studies and conduct your own "clinical trails" on yourself. Instead its much easier to lookup "how to get rid of acne" and then give that advice to other even if you've never actually done it yourself.
So many people believe such stupid myths like "match your haircut to your faceshape bro" or "match your sunglasses with your faceshape bro" because they are not free thinkers, they are simply repeating useless garbage someone else told them. and I KNOW for a face these faceshape dudes never actually got a haircut for their faceshape because it doesn't work. its complete rubbish.
my final example of this is when some gray tiktok cel tried giving Calonge advice. he said something like spray it into your moisturizer then put it over your body. but anyone who has actually tried this knows it doesn't work nearly as well as just spraying the calonge on your pulse points
Looksmaxing has not become a skill where people pay for advice (large scale) at max you need a big following to sell face rating and looksmaxing advice. Its not like a field where you can learn about it and then work with people like a dentist or dermatologist. Yet... i could see it happening in the future for sure.
