you can either marry and start a family and do everything you can to secure the future of your people. this is low risk, but also low reward. this route generally just leads to a slow decline of society over time. this is the option most people choose
or you can in essence go er and what i mean by that is to avoid marriage and children, familial duties and communal responsibilities, and instead focus your entire effort on having a more direct impact on the future of your peoples through aggression towards the outgroup. this is the impulse towards conquest and the creation of "living space" at the expense of subhumans.
