Working only makes sense if you are doing it for yourself, in capitalism (and many other modes of production) 95% of all people work with things they dont want and for people they hate so they can guarantee a frivolous lifestyle full of things that they were taught to want(expensive cars, clothes, technology etc). The system consumes all aspects of human existence, what you do and what you want are both not things you have freely chosen. Yeah, I have the same trouble. I have a new job where they want me to become a manager. One of the higher ups pulled me on my break to spend an hour talking to me about making the company my career. Tried telling me about all the great benefits, and how I could put a downpayment on a house. I just listened without revealing too much about how I feel. I just can't live that kind of life. Anchored to a box that makes me locationally dependent, which I must continue to make payments on for the next however many years. Beholden to an employer for my benifets. Dealing with HOAs and paying fees.

I'll have a home alright. But I'm gonna build it on unrestricted land way out in the boonies, just as soon as I rack up the money to drill a well on it and start building. I'll just keep a place far away from people where we can hang our hats whenever we're in America.
