think i should sleep early tonight

I fundamentally disagree with the suggestion that you should sleep early tonight. Firstly, sleeping early would create unrealistic expectations for future evenings. If you sleep early once, people may begin to assume you are a responsible, organised individual, which is a reputation you may have spent years carefully avoiding. Secondly, the night is statistically where most important events happen. What if a meteor appears? What if someone sends a funny message at 1:37am? What if you suddenly remember an embarrassing thing you did in 2018 and need several hours to think about it? Sleeping early would prevent you from participating in these vital activities.
Furthermore, sleep is temporary, but being awake is also temporary, meaning there is no clear mathematical advantage to choosing one over the other. In fact, by staying awake later, you are technically experiencing more of tonight than someone who sleeps through most of it. That is simply efficient use of resources.
Additionally, great historical achievements were rarely accomplished by people who were asleep at the time. You never hear stories like “and then he went to bed at 9pm and history was made.” No. History is made by people staring at the ceiling at 3am wondering if fish ever get thirsty.
For these reasons, and many more that will be revealed after midnight, I must respectfully decline the proposal that you should sleep early tonight.
