One thing I don't agree with is the idea of how every vedic sage proves the permanency of consciousness. They all say that consiousness persists even through deep sleep aka sushupti because when we wake, we remember that we slept well, or deeply.

But that cognition of deep sleep only supercedes actual waking, and a recollection of one's senses. What if one never woke from deep sleep? There would be no such self cognition or confirmation of a persisting consciousness.
