I know this roastie at the office. She is in her 40s, has multiple kids, an ex husband. I was never interested in having a relationship with her, but I knew her for about 3.5 years. We would talk about 1-2 times a week, see each other in the hall way.
Over the years we started making more personal conversations. We talked about relationships, job interviews, made jokes etc.
Anyways, on her final day of work, I asked if she wanted to grab lunch sometimes as friends . It was a cold “no I’m busy.” I kind of expected her to say “ no, but we can stay in touch” or “no but we can grab lunch some other times. “ or at least maybe she could come back and share numbers and text sometimes. Pretty clear she never cared to see me again after nearly 4 yrs of knowing her. Never even bothered to stop by at my cubicle to say bye.
Thoughts? How to get over this? It felt like a form of disrespect.
