This is the only photo that I have found that actually shows what hydroxyapatite implants look like.

Hydroxyapatite for Malar Augmentation

The main advantage of these is that your body accepts these implants as bone over time and there is a much lower risk of infection.

Downside is that they shrink 30% over time, so there is much unpredictability with their placement and size over time.

In a perfect world, you would get these made using a mould to get the perfect shape you are looking for.

@RealSurgerymax get on it :p.

HA Implants are gimmick.

The body "accepts" other implant materials just as well.

The body "integrates" HA but thats not a selling point when you realize that means it unpredictably remodels and resorbs.

They do NOT have a lower infection rate.

These are NOT the ideal implant material. If I wanted to use them, I could have the made easily. If some know-it-all obsessive autist came to me and wanted them against my advice, I would order them. So they are already available at Giant, I just dont want to use them because I know thats not what's best for you.

What are your thoughts on Medpor? I saw in another post you had used it a few times but you didn’t elaborate. Also a gimmick?

I asked my maxfac surgeon about these last month he said he never has used them and they are a gimmick as Giant said

I mean gunson uses them, but revision rate on them is high because its extremly unpredictable how the bone will grow into it
