This is what spending €5k on palate expansion looks like

On the right side, the inner line is original width of palate, outer line is post expansion width
I got these sizes by tracing my retainer I had before and the one I have after, accuracy may be slightly out
The difference between human and subhuman is literally just a few mm

Poor way of presenting the expansion you got as you didn't strictly expand one side.

I admire your constant pursuit of knowledge but am sometimes surprised at how nothing just automatically clicks for you and you need everything to be explained

Palate is important because having a narrow palate means less teeth will be visible when you smile
Having a narrow palate makes you look non dimorphic because it looks like you have less strength in your jaws and less bite force (if we take things back to caveman times)
It also just links to developing a generally narrow face if your palate is narrow during puberty
Widening your palate also gives more room for your tongue to allow for correct tongue posture and better breathing since narrow palate usually means narrow airways

is it worth it if you have 10 to 11 teeth showing to get it to proper 12?

lifefuel, did you use maxillary skeletal expansion device?

need to expand my premolar maxillary and mandibular areas.

27

best way I could do it given the tracing, if I get a post expansion scan I can show it more accurately
if you are 27, how did you expand your palate?
surgery or MSE?

If you're young enough a MARPE could yield the same results (if the sutures split of course) plus some potential bizygomatic widening

I'm 18, 19 in a few months, possible?

If you want to expand MORE than 5mm, then you would need surgically assisted MSE (SARPE), if more than 8mm, You would need corticopuncture done so you can expand with MSDO at the same rate.

Even then condylar problems may occur during the expansion, because if you're splitting the bone and expanding it, then you're literally changing the angulation of your tempo-mandibular joint. You're probably gonna need a little orthodontic movement of the molars to get them to match perfectly if you're doing MSE with MSDO, because MSDO expands the front teeth more than the back teeths.

Thanks, informative reply. What does that .gif in the end of your post show, could you please link the source? MSE + MSDO?
