I'm sure someone has already made a post that is very in depth and has good research about masseter training and why it causes TMJ, but I just felt like posting about it again in case anyone here still hasn't been warned.

Do not do any masseter training. The towel method, hard gum chewing, etc, will not fix your bigonial width and will just give you TMJ and asymmetry.

I used to chew falim gum randomly, and I didn't have an issues. But I would only do it maybe once or twice a month because I wouldn't even think about it until I randomly saw the gum in my drawer. I tried the towel method for a month and did it twice a week, at the end of the month my jaw started clicking.

Luckily it stopped once I quit doing the stupid exercises, but I've seen many stories from people who overdid it and had severe TMJ issues. The funny thing is I haven't even seen anyone get meaningful results from masseter training, you would be much better off mewing and doing chin tucks (which are already kind of cope so training your masseters is giga cope)

the same goes for clenching by the way, it's not a looksmax, your teeth are barely supposed to touch relaxed.

you will recede your gums from doing this and they will not grow back.

clenching is gonna wear down your teeth also. None of your teeth are supposed to be in contact when resting and your masseter and temporalis should be engaged only enough to suspend your mandible up.
