Im supposed to be doing my homework but i cant stop thinking about death. The concept of dying has had me in a chokehold for the past few days, its all i really seem to think about. When we all die someday, we cease to exist. Everything we've done in life, all of our accomplishments, all the people we've grown close to, disappear completely. Forever. Envisioning death isnt the hard part, it all leads to me wondering what the point of all this is. Sure, our neurons are firing now, keeping us conscious in the present, but it wont mean anything after death.

Everything seems so pointless.

We all have the same fate, so why are people idolized for their accomplishments if it means being brought closer to death? None of that will matter in the end. The only logical reason my brain allows me to accept is that we are put on earth not for our personal accomplishments, but our impact. You will eventually be forgotten, so the accomplishment of starting a family alone wont suffice for me. I have to make some sort of lasting impact on this world for the better. Im realizing more as im writing this thread, so some points might counteract with each other. Sorry for that. Lol.

If there is some sort of god or other-worldy being out there, i have so much to ask.

If anyone wants to share their views about our purpose, please respond.

TLDR; i have some sort of nihilistic feeling i cant explain and it wont leave.

There is no point, that's why you're free to do what you want. Live a life you deem fulfilling. It all comes down to your preference. The thing that should matter the most to one is not dying with regrets and dying happy.
All the people you've gotten close to disappear for you, but they still remember you... Sure, over the course of time, everyone will be forgotten but that as well is freeing in some sort of sense if you could try and look at it that way. If you really care you could do something to impact the world in such a major way that you will be remembered for a long time for your contributions to the human society.

Yes, that is the purpose for many people.

Probably not. Very unlikely.
