Thoughts on perms?

I feel like I would look way better with wavy hair. I found this Salon near me that does really good natural looking wavy perms. Was wondering your guys thoughts on it. Are perms sustainable long term (possible hair damage), is it worth maintaining it constantly and going back to the salon every 3-6 months and paying $150 each time. Anyone with a perm or who has gotten a perm before lmk.

If you get it, but a good silicon free shampoo and conditioner and take good care of your hair.
