The legality of guns in USA doesn't invite gun violence in the same way dressing like a whore invites being raped. Regardless of whether or not guns are legal in the US they're not going away. The only thing keeping fully automatic weapons out of the hands of American civilians is the legal status of semi automatic weapons. If you outlaw firearms in America there's nothing left to stop us from beginning to acquire and keep fully automatic weapons. Might as well at that point because we're not giving our guns up.

Nobody deserves anything by our judgement, but we should be reasonable here. It is an equivocation fallacy to compare someone 'deserving' something here, a woman can lower her chances of being raped by choosing not to make several bad decisions leading up to it. She doesn't deserve to have something happen to her but the way it is used is to mean she should expect that there is the risk. Charlie Kirk knew the risk and chose to do what he believed was right, and have open and honest dialogue even if we disagree. He would 'deserve' it the same way if he had no security checks for example, but even then that isn't how the word is being used. It is to say it is a justified killing, which we can all disagree with the same way a man is not justified in raping a woman.

If you see a crackhead with a knife screaming about wanting to stab someone and you walk up to him and start arguing, you don't deserve to be killed but you do deserve the direct outcomes of your actions.

Deserving something is not a moral claim, nor does it have bearing on whether we are sympathetic, but we can look at statistics and say someone who failed to have the foresight to act rationally is a fool.

There is almost always a reason for murder, whether we judge it to be a good one isn't really relevant. It is very rare for people to kill strangers for no reason, even then you could argue the reason would be some mental condition but thats not really our discussion. Charlie Kirk was killed because he was Charlie Kirk. That guy wasn't just looking to kill just anyone, he expected that it would bring him glory among his peers, you could perhaps argue that it would be in pursuit of better sexual optionality as he would have status and have shown himself to be capable of killing for his family. But that is semantics, point is there is a reason things are done. This is platonic philosophy so if you disagree we can talk and I can recite the arguments to you but I think its pretty well agreed.

It is definitely retarded, but consider what motivated them to do what they do. The murderer is not motivated by a want to murder but rather a perceived necessity for their ideal world. A rapist however is motivated by a want to rape, and so it is more reasonable to point out that a woman who dresses immodestly and frequents bad areas will be a more likely target. That doesn't excuse either but rather shows us why we can perceive them differently
