Thanks to everyone in this site for helping me see all of my flaws. I've fixed most of them, Surgery/ going to doctor is the only way I ascend higher. Help me decide which route to take on correcting TMJ.

This is what I believe is happening, Ill get X-rays soon:
1582904061795

Treatments that come to mind are:
-Orthoganathic (nuclear option+ would not fix down shifted maxilla)
-Aligners/braces/bands (not sure if that would even work)

Is anyone experienced with this?

Surgery can fix canted and offcenter jaws

You think insurance would cover it and is that the only option? Would it fix the downshifted maxilla on one side?

Doesnt only your lower jaw move when tmj?

your lower jaw and upper jaw are supporting each other. That means if one side of your lower jaw changes, your maxilla will change too. I have this problem also. You can see that i developed it over a few years, because in old photos, my jaw is pretty symmetrical and now not anymore.

How do you notice it.

the type of tmd where your whole jaw is sort of shifted to one side? i used to have that and still do, just to a much lesser extent and soon it will be completely gone. the "cure" for me was mewing, although the point at which i started this process is 10 months ago now, so it will take it's time.

Malocclusion. Popping. Visual asymmetry and tilt of jaw. Also noticed when I bite down its not vertical. My bites almost diagonal so Ive been manually trying to bite vertically and I think its helping a little. Also have masseter hypertrophy on one side so I think I have bruxism in my sleep.

How do you notice that you have it

You can visually see it pretty easily. Especially if you have Bdd like me.
And how did you notice it in your bite ?
Did it feel different?

well idk about other cases but for me it was pretty obvious. it was fairly visible when looking at myself straight on and my jaw was constantly clicking when i moved it (which it doesn't anymore by the way).

Yeah, its to the point where my left jaw is clenched while my right is still contracting.

I don’t think surgery will fix those issues. But you should visit a TMJ specialist

Would anything fix those issues? Also is a tmj specialist a type of orthodontist? aka do I need to use health insurance or dental insurance.

No idea, that’s specific to your health system.

There are TMJ specialists in almost every related health profession (dentists, maxfax surgeons, orthodontists, physiotherapists, osteopaths) and each of them will see your TMJ problems from their point of view.

Does it feel different since you have tmj
well when you get the tmz that i have the palate sort of adapts to the teeth of the lower jaw. the palate slowly over time becomes tilted in the same way that your lower jaw is. so the upper teeth row after some time is back to being parallel to the lower teeth row which makes the bite feel somewhat normal.
