Just read the stupidest thread ever so let me clear some things up for you nasty anti-brushers and how fluoride decreases IQ . Your pH levels in your mouth are very important when picking out your toothpaste. An average male has a pH level around 6.2-7.6 pH. This is very important when you choose your toothpaste. Toothpaste companies use 7.6 pH+ combined with Fluoride. Now some toothpastes that contain sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), which have more alkaline pH levels help with neutralizing plaque.
While you brush your teeth your saliva which is a protein-rich biofluid (although it is mostly 99% water) will combine its production with the fluorine in the toothpaste to create a protective cover around your teeth, but if you experience dry mouth (xerostomia) find toothpaste that is a good bit lower on the pH scale more toward 6.8-7 pH or just fix your awful diet.
There is a possibility for the high pH level toothpaste to affect your oral health, again drop it because it can cause your natural oral pH level to drop to 5.5 pH, which creates a perfect place for tooth enamel decay and can cause cavities.
Fluoride also works with the protective ions, glycoproteins, amylase, enzymes, mucins that your saliva creates and creates an even better protective cover and cleanses your oral bacteria.
Also don't complain about it dropping your IQ unless you take insane amounts of fluorine daily then that won't happen, plus unless you have an insanely credible article about it affecting your IQ keep your assumptions/pseudoscience to yourself your IQs already low enough even if you use fluoride toothpaste you don't have much of an IQ to diminish anyway.
So stop being stupid you yellow toothed pirate.
P.s here are some pH levels for the top 5 toothpastes. Which all use fluoride
-Colgate Total: pH level between 7.0 and 8.0, slightly alkaline.
-Crest Pro-Health: pH level between 6.5 and 8.0, depending on the variant.
-Sensodyne ProNamel Gentle Whitening Toothpaste: pH level between 7.0 and 8.0, with some for sensitive teeth having a pH closer to neutral (7).
-Arm and Hammer Dental Care Advance Cleaning Mint Toothpaste w/Baking Soda: pH levels typically around 8.0, making it slightly alkaline.
-Tom's of Maine Natural Anticavity Fluoride Toothpaste: This tends to be more natural and may have pH levels closer to neutral. Ranging around 6.8-7.5ish
