So, basically ive been doing some research and tooth removal according to john mew the pioneer of mewing, tooth removals itself does not cause recession rather it its the orthodontic treatment because they close the gap via braces, my question is would recession occur if the gap is left and never closed. Do any of you guys have input on this. Also are ancestor would lose teeth due to overuse and yet they had wide inter molar widths and forward grown jaws.

And some people including myself have extra teeth, i have two extra canines in my maxillae, im curious if they are there due to evolution since canine teeth are one of the most common teeth lost or if its just a random mutation.

neither really causes any significant recession, people just want to blame their braces instead of their genes.
