I’ve always dealt with eczema from the ages of id say 9-14 and haven’t had a flare up in the last 4 years or so.

Despite that with my dark skin eczema and the irritation rubbing, scratching and the abuse of steroid creams has left a lot of residual hyperpigmentation around my eyes and corners of my face where my eczema was the worst

Currently using niacinimide in the mornings and 0.05% tret diluted with moisturiser at night along with constant sunscreen application.

That being said especially the upper cheek region under the eye gets quite irritated and dry regardless of how much moisturiser I buffer it with it burns and peels. I’m barely two weeks into using it so I know the “purging” phase can be legit but I’ve also read that for people with eczema prone skin it can cause reflares so I’m not too sure.

is there a risk with sticking with it and has anyone experienced something similar?

I have no idea why this forum is so obsessed with tretinoin when it doesn't fare much better than benzoyl peroxide in literally all studies that are conducted on it with literally next to no sides + it's legal and far cheaper.

Benzoyl is better for actual acne it doesn’t do anything for hyperpigmentation or scarring/bruising I don’t have acne

Niacinimide works pretty good for scarring and discolouration

ah I see, understandable in that case.

I'm not familiar with those issues, I have some facial scars though, but they're not from skin related issues.

Yea I abused steroid creams for too long back in the day because it was the only thing that settled my horrid eczema for the time being but that + the constant cracking and irritation has left a decent amount of hyperpigmentation that has faded a little with time but not gone away

you are beautiful bhai, you don't need any tretinoin

what about for anti aging?

I've had a soomewhat similar experince, I've been having problems with only one of my undereyes where it's dry/puffy. The probem is it could be so many things: minoxidil on eyebrows, vaseline being too close to eyes, rubbing face on pillow in my sleep, rubbing face then rubbing eyes in sleep etc. I just constantly applied moisturizer and vaseline (it was actually cerave healing ointment but it's similar) to the dry area and stopped using tret for a few days until it was fixed, but I still have eye puffiness. I'm starting to think I've just always had one of my eyes puffier than the other but idk

does benzoyl peroxide only help with acne or does it have the same benefits as tret (clearing hyperpigmentation ect)
