I see post time to time talking about “tretinoin shrinked my nose blah blah”, I’ve been wondering if this is true. I have a long nose, the tips width of my nose is big, with tretinoin taking out all the gunk out of someone’s nose, of course that’ll make it appear smaller. Will it make a BIG difference?

I am on 0.05%, I might add azelaic acid by September.

Need some feedback. Thanks

I’ve been on tretinoin for 2 years, yes it does

Two years? What percentage are you using right now? Also does it make a noticeable difference? And how good is your skin? Thanks lmao.

I was on 0.025% for the first few months and then stepped it up to 0.05% which is what I’m on now. You won’t really see results until 2-3 months.

I was on accutane for 6 months before these 2 years which is the oral supplement version of it and much more effective for acne and it cleaned my acne completely. Tretinoin I still use because it gives me “glass” skin and over time it completely erases the scars I had from acne.

Does it make a noticeable difference? Absolutely, but you gotta be consistent and have patience

why not jump to 0.1?

why not jump to 0.1?
My skin is already as smooth is it really can be since I’ve been using it for so long… I can do it but it won’t make a difference for me

the cream version doesn't clear clogs, use gel instead, preferably tazarotene instead of tretinoin

the cream does tho I use it, any sort of tretinoin will help with sebum. Maybe gel is stronger tho idk

Causes irritation without providing any significant benefits that 0.5 won’t. Unjustified thus.
rn I'm on 0.5 , you suggest not even trying the 0.1? I bought like 10 tubes of 0.5 from indiamart and 5 of 0.1 planning to jump on it eventually

That is worthless. 0.1% provides much more adversity (irritation, redness, photosensitivity)
with no visible benefits compared to 0.1%. There is a reason tretinoin is not available in formulations like 10% or 12%. Higher doses don’t equal higher returns. The law of diminishing returns lol!

I think you meant to say 0.1 provides much more adversity, but regardless thanks for info

Yes , typo there, corrected it.
Id say $15-20 of 0.1% tubes is not worth raping your skin. But you do you.

it's very marginal, sometimes worse because some cream formulations straight-up clog pores instead of unclogging it, i've used 0.05% tret cream everyday for 6 months before switching to 0.05% taz gel once every 2 days with SCT, only then my blackheads started to disappear

guess it's just different experiences then

Absolute most you'll see is a 20% difference unless you have a strawberry nose with massive pores when it comes to just tret. Accutane will have more of an effect. If you want more results, pairing it with hydrocortisone 1% cream as it will thin the skin and remove/significantly reduce and inflammation in the nasal tip and alarbase.

Alarbase?

My acne was never that severe to the point where I considered accutane, I had some, so I just got tretinoin to remove it

I started on 0.05% never used 0.025%, skin is handling it well
Could be. A dermat will start off with 0.025% always. If your skin is handling it well then good

Alarbase?
The bottom of your nose/width.

There are other additional effects to consider like the nose shrinking 'accutane nose' is what people call it online talking about their nose shrinking on reddit etc if you want to see results. My acne was never bad enough but if you want that glass, flawless skin look its better to hop on it for 1 course then hop off and I have perm gains for life, can be a low dose aswell just to avoid the sides but still get the benefits over a longer span of time.

Though tret is still good obviously.

I know what alarbase is. My question was how is hydrocortisone supposed to reduce your alarbase? It can thin the skin around your alarbase but than would be a negligible visual.

It reduces any inflamation within your nose, specifically the nose tip so if that shrinks a little it brings your whole nose together, same with the thinning skin. If you have an inflamed nose, for example you got stung by a bee in your nasal tip your whole alar base would widen due to the swollen tip.

it could help but only to an extent. adding the azelaic acid could help calm down inflammation, further helping your nose go back to its original shape. as for the percentage, i started off with 0.1% tret and its been a month, ive had some peeling and flaking at the start but its gone now and im getting 0.1% taz for my second month. and yes gel works better since it penetrates the skin better but if ur skins sensitive itll js cause more irritation.

you think accutane is worth if u have acne but not cystic also adding Azelaic acid hydroquinone for lip colouring and estriol on top of tret. Either getting accutane or pinning ghk. Thoughts?

GHK won’t help with acne only scars. And yes I highly recommend accutane it’s best choice

yes, tretinoin can give the illusion of "tighter skin" after a couple months of using it
