I talked to senior devs, mentors, and friends everyone gave me the same breakdown bro the H-1B is an unpredictable mess right now, tech immigration policy the officials themselves don't understand and Bay Area rent will eat half your take home pay. They advised me to decline the ticket, stay home, work remotely and stack cash while the market and policy stabilized. So thatโ€™s what Iโ€™ve been doing all because of Mr orange man who had to ruin everything. Crazy to thing without that I would be ina. Completely different place but it's fine I'm still happy man. These things are out of your control you know

Do you plan on starting a family with your girlfriend in the US? My grandparents live in the Bay Area, and itโ€™s insane how expensive everything is over there

Don't think this shit is ever gonna get any better tbh

Still 100% worth it though especially if you intend on having children

who knows what side of the spectrum

I don't really know man The work is still good. I still get paid well but it's not the same as being there. I had the offer, the performance, the support from my boss and yet here I am watching my American dream get put on hold. But it's fine. Things here are more chill and I get to live with my parents and have O expenses. No $3,500 Bay Area rent, no immigration stress hanging over my head but still would love to be there.

It's all over my head, what you're talking about.

If you ask me, as an American who grew up there and can remember the early 90's, the American dream was destroyed long long before Trump ever came to be. It's been destroyed culturally in 3 generational waves.

It's been destroyed by the boomers with their addiction to comfort and unforgivable naivety.

Its been destroyed by generation X for their having been asleep at the wheel.

And finally it's been handed the proverbial nail in the coffin by my generation, the millennials, for stupidly thinking they can save the world and inadvertently opening themselves to a smorgasbord of destructive ideas. Fuck millennials and their good intentions.

I have hope for generation Z. I'm glad they've grown up being called racist and whatnot, and cease to give a fuck. That's a step in the right direction but I fear that they won't be able to throw off the yoke of "mental health" problems. I'm scared they'll be just as bad as they're stupid fucking millennial parents, or worse, and continue to spend their lives drowning in a foot of water when all they have to do is stand the fuck up.

"Anxiety! ANXIETY!!! DEPRESSION!"

I always think of the opening scene of The Aviator where Leo DiCaprio describes the desert when I think of my life in the 3rd world.

"Oh, yeah. I like the desert. It's hot there in the desert, but it's clean. It's clean."

Here it's hot and "dry", but its also "clean". Find me just one mother fucker where I'm living at now who's crippled with anxiety or depression and feels like they need "therapy" to function or move forward with their lives in a positive direction.

I could never raise my kid in America, with all confusion, to grow up and become a weak sappy son of a bitch. For all the comfort in the world I wouldn't raise a child in a place like that. There is no dream where you can't raise children.

The boomers and generation X destroyed America on an economic level. Millennials destroyed it culturally.
