I don't really know man The work is still good. I still get paid well but it's not the same as being there. I had the offer, the performance, the support from my boss and yet here I am watching my American dream get put on hold. But it's fine. Things here are more chill and I get to live with my parents and have O expenses. No $3,500 Bay Area rent, no immigration stress hanging over my head but still would love to be there.

If you ask me, as an American who grew up there and can remember the early 90's, the American dream was destroyed long long before Trump ever came to be. It's been destroyed culturally in 3 generational waves.

It's been destroyed by the boomers with their addiction to comfort and unforgivable naivety.

Its been destroyed by generation X for their having been asleep at the wheel.

And finally it's been handed the proverbial nail in the coffin by my generation, the millennials, for stupidly thinking they can save the world and inadvertently opening themselves to a smorgasbord of destructive ideas. Fuck millennials and their good intentions.

I have hope for generation Z. I'm glad they've grown up being called racist and whatnot, and cease to give a fuck. That's a step in the right direction but I fear that they won't be able to throw off the yoke of "mental health" problems. I'm scared they'll be just as bad as they're stupid fucking millennial parents, or worse, and continue to spend their lives drowning in a foot of water when all they have to do is stand the fuck up.

Yes, Cambodia. The Africa of Asia I've always said. Only place worse is Myanmar. Too dangerous there though.

We go down to the corner store right outside of our apartment and there's a white guy who lives under the awning. He sits there all day openly smoking meth out of light bulbs.

Anyways, since coming to Cambodia I've only allowed my kid to consume media in the local language. Since he was a baby he's only used Chinese with his mother and English with me. As soon as my wife got pregnant when we were staying in her village in 2020 I mercilessly drilled it into her head to never speak English with him after he's born. She's done a very good job and he speaks Chinese like any five year old in China.

Soon I'll put him in Muay Thai. He's almost 5 now. After 3 years when I earn my degree we're gonna move to Japan to finally settle. When we move to Japan he'll be 8. By the time he's 10 years old he'll be a native speaker of English, Chinese, Khmer, and Japanese. I'll make sure he continues to consume Khmer media for at least an hour a day until he's 18 years old.

I don't mind being a gaijin for the rest of my life. I've always loved Japan even though I've never been there.

Having spent three years of his early childhood in the 3rd world will be an invaluable gift for him throughout his life.

I love it here. My wife can't stand the heat, and was initially shocked at the raw poverty, but she trusts my judgement and can see my vision.

No the wages are lower in Canada. I mostly have experience with us companies and have US regulations. I would have to adapt to completely different Infrastructure.

When you factor in cost of living yes. Compared to other countries in Europe it's better like in. US but bat area salaries are honestly unmoggable. A entry level engineer in bat area makes more than double the salary of a senior engineer in the UK Canada is better in that regard and. There's probably still decent growth in Canada but at the top the gap is enormous

Going into healthcare is horrific it's already 5 year and then I have to do 3 years in public health before I can move into the private sector and make money, and even then I'm still in school a year behind entering uni
