Most people want it.

But they want it on their terms.

They don't want to be in it with a weak negotiating hand or where they are "equal partners".

They want all the conventional benefits, whilst also dictating the flow of the relationship. They want the final say with how much is committed by both sides and when investment may be withdrawn or must be added.

For this reason, most people in the 21st century aren't suited for it.

eh...the only reason a marriage works is if youre fighting for survival like in the old days. so staying together was beneficial. theres no mind games to it, you will get bored and there will be no incentive to stay. ever lasting love isnt a thing for 99% of people

Everyone wants to have their own way.

Men are more likely to be content with scraps than women but everyone at their core is responsible for this.

People in generally, more often men, but really everyone in generally needs to be able to do it.

Loads of people are held back by all kinds of overthinking or other repercussions that shouldn't be a thing.
