Fury being the best in the division should be almost self evident at this stage. It should’ve been clear after the Deontay Wilder fight, let alone after Joshua lost. His combination of skill, ring craft and athleticism makes him the most difficult proposition in the division and fighting both Klitchsko and Wilder away from home gains him the currency and good will in the face of his most ardent fans and even some critics.
People basically put too much stock into resumes in HW. AJ was considered number one based on who he beat when the vast majority of people on that list were either old faded veterans or inexperienced contenders not close to title level. On paper his record stands out, but looking beyond that and assessing the displayed ability of those in contention to be considered the best makes it clear that Fury is the stand out guy. He isn’t head and shoulders above everyone and can be beaten by a guy who exploits his lack of comfort at close range and that low lead hand of his, but right now I wouldn’t strongly back anyone else in that division to beat him. He’s also one of the only HWs who’s skill set appears transferable in a pound for pound sense.
He’s 6’9 and moves 10x faster than anyone in the division, he’s incredibly awkward, can fight both orthodox and southpaw, crazy head movement, very calm and composed.
He beat klitschko, he beat Wilder, he will beat Joshua.
The Gypsy King reigns supreme.
