☆ Guide to Understanding Eye Colour in Facial Aesthetics [1] ☆
(How to Use It to your Advantage)

This thread won’t include any cope studies or claims about how eye colour can differ in terms of indicating masculinity, as those sources are generally unreliable and don’t reflect individual cases.

Eye colour is one of the few aesthetic traits that can drastically change how a face is perceived without altering the underlying facial structure of an individual, you should use it to your advantage.

Even though this feature cannot compensate for a weak eye area or subpar bone structure, it can halo and eye area and it can amplify an already attractive face by increasing contrast and strikingness. Regarding strikingness, the limbal ring is without a doubt the most important feature for lighter irises. While it will never compensate for poor bone structure or a weak eye area, it can generally amplify an already attractive face by increasing contrast, drawing attention to the eyes, and making certain features appear more striking.

THE SCENCE BEHIND YOUR EYE COLOUR (dnr unless interested)

Some people assume blue or green eyes are simply the result of blue or green pigment. That isn't actually how it works.

Brown eyes contain high amounts of melanin within the iris due to their evolutionary advantage in blocking intense sunlight. Blue eyes contain very little melanin, and their colour is primarily produced by the scattering of light through the iris stroma (often described as Rayleigh or Tyndall scattering). Green eyes are produced by a combination of moderate melanin and a small amount of lipochrome (pheomelanin), together with light scattering.

In other words, much of what we perceive as eye colour is determined by the interaction between pigmentation and the way light is scattered through the iris.

HOW CAN YOU CHANGE IT

There are currently four realistic ways to alter your eye colour and limbal ring, ranging from completely reversible to permanent. Each comes with its own advantages and risks.
Before going over the options, I will give you an example to assess what an ideal limbal ring and what a subpar one looks like

1. Coloured Contact Lenses (Safest) (A+) $

1782677902250

This is by far the safest, cheapest, and most practical option. You've have certainly already encountered or may live with someone who uses contact lenses, albeit not coloured ones. Modern cosmetic contact lenses can produce surprisingly natural results when chosen correctly and fitted properly.

Pros : Completely reversible. Huge variety of colours. Can experiment before committing. Lowest medical risk when prescribed and cared for properly. Can subtly increase iris definition and contrast.

Cons : Require daily/weekly maintenance. Can become uncomfortable after prolonged wear. Cheap lenses often look artificial. Poor hygiene increases the risk of eye infections (don't shower with them, sleep with them, wear them if they're expired, wear them for too long, wear them if they haven't been cleansed with solution). For most people, this should always be the first option.

The site I recommend : (Lens.me is a leading online retailer specializing in coloured contact lenses, offering worldwide shipping. They are known for stocking a wide variety of premium, US-FDA registered, and CE-approved colored contact lens brands.

A video on how to put them on and on (I suggest you find your own way of doing it though) :

2. Regarding Surgery (D-) $$$

1782678854205

There are already threads discussing surgery regarding eye colour.
Laser iris depigmentation and keratopigmentation are currently the only permanent cosmetic procedures capable of changing eye colour, but both are expensive and carry significant risks. Laser iris depigmentation typically costs around $5,000–12,000 USD and works by removing melanin from the front of a brown iris, usually producing a blue-gray or gray appearance. Laser iris depigmentation cannot reliably produce true green eyes, as green irises require a specific amount of lipochrome (pheomelanin), which current laser technology cannot create. The procedure is irreversible and has been associated with complications such as pigment dispersion, elevated intraocular pressure, chronic inflammation, glaucoma, and, in rare cases, permanent vision loss. The results for keratopigmentation generally look like absolute shit you can research it for yourself and they grey colour from depigmentation barely makes any differece.

UNDERSTANDING THE POWER OF EYE COLOUR

Eye colour does not affect attractiveness equally across all phenotypes and archetypes.

Ethnics with light eyes tend to benefit more from them than Europeans do.

The rarity of light eyes creates a level of contrast and distinctiveness that is difficult to replicate. Jeremy Meeks is one example that, in my view, demonstrates this effect. Brown eyes on someone like him would have been the death of him and his career. If you are ethnic and aren't taking advantage of coloured contacts to at least slightly brighten the iris (WTFYD!?)

If a lighter iris can make you slightly white passing like with David Gandy you should most definitely consider lenses

Chico is one of the best examples of why lighter eyes are not universally superior. His appeal is built around great facial harmony, but also around being a pretty boy with high averageness. His naturally dark eyes contribute to that averageness because brown is the most common eye colour and blends seamlessly with the rest of his phenotype. When his irises are artificially lightened, I think that sense of averageness is diminished. The added contrast doesn't enhance his look; instead, it can make him appear slightly uncanny in certain photos and ruins his look. This shows that eye colour should complement a person's phenotype rather than simply maximizing contrast. The best eye colour isn't always the lightest one, it's the one that best fits the face. Although due to the law of facial contrast, white people with darker hair will generally always benefit from lighter coloured eyes.

THAT BEING SAID :

If done properly -> a brighter iris makes:
  • shorter palpebral fissure length appear less noticeable
  • mild negative hooding appear less severe
  • neutral/negative canthal tilt attract less attention
  • eyelashes appear darker by increasing iris-lash contrast
  • the eye area appear more expressive

THE MOST UNDERRATED SOFTMAX FOR PFCELS

Basically no one talks about how eye colour can save an individual from having a death tier pfl and shit hooding, yet altering one's colour can completely save the eye area.
A brighter or more contrasting iris naturally draws the viewer's eye toward the centre of the eye rather than its boundaries, making shortcomings such as a shorter PFL or mild negative hooding appear less noticeable.

1782680950491
1782681112495

Without his eye colour, his overall career and casting profile would have been different, instead of looking like a hero, he looks like a somewhat attractive normie.

However people who have above average PFL can usually easily get away with different eye colours which is why PFL is law.
In this case the change doesn't do anything and some women will actually prefer the brown eyes. Whenever a woman says that she likes brown eyes, she is basically saying that she likes average/above average PFL and an ideal/harmonious eye area with an iris that happens to be brown. Note that this is usually not the case for green or blue eyes because of their rarity and halo.
1782682040049
1782681980367

Individuals that are somewhat androgynous with high harmony like for Lorenzo Zurzolo who scores around 65% in dimorphism and near 90% facial harmony aren't impacted by this either even with other failos (scleral show) in the eye area as long as the pfl is decent.

1782684940033
1782684973466

WIDE/DIMORPHIC SKULLS, "SQUARE" FACE SHAPES IN COMPARISON TO ANDROGYNOUS FACES

(for wide skullcels)

Tom Welling, and Hernán Drago possess broad skulls and strong jaws.

Their light eyes don't simply make their eyes prettier, they enhance the perception of the entire skull, slightly taking away from its width which frames the face.

The strong contrast created by dark hair and light eyes immediately directs attention toward the eye area while framing the facial structure around it. This increases strikingness

If these same individuals had dark brown eyes, their wide looker is way more prominent and takes away from their look.

Eye colour is illusory: these individuals look worse now because the face becomes more visually uniform and contrast is worsened.
(Welling looks like a blockhead and Drago looks like an ogre)

WHY HARMONY IS KING AND CONTRAST IS THE MULTIPLIER

To understand eye colour in facial aesthetics it is integral to separate harmony from contrast.

Matt Bomer is a strong example of why harmony comes first and is the most important pillar. His attractiveness is primarily rooted in balanced proportions, clean facial structure, and an overall cohesion across features. Because of this, his appeal is not dependent on any single trait, including eye colour.

1782683272006
1782683300907

Even though Matt Bomer isn’t negatively impacted by darker eyes in the same way someone like Tom Welling might be when the iris is overly darkened, brown eyes tend to shift the perception of his face slightly.

Instead of changing his attractiveness, they draw more attention to the underlying harmony of his features, making his look feel a bit more average in certain contexts while still remaining very attractive overall. His eye colour isn’t a determining factor in his appeal.

This is why, in my view, the priority should always be improving facial harmony first, since it’s the foundation everything else is built on and if your facial harmony and your pfl is decent, eye colour doesn't matter to the same extent as it does with others. In this case, brightening the iris doesn't really won't make or break anything. If you are part of this select group, you can rest easily and sometimes changing your eye colour can ruin your look.

Please focus on the building the house before painting it.

WHAT LENSES SHOULD I CHOOSE (IN GENERAL) ?

Fair skin is the most flexible since it works best with blue, grey, dark green, or soft hazel because low skin pigment pairs well with cooler, lighter irises. Avoid overly dark or overly saturated lenses as they can look heavy or artificial.

Olive skin is the most flexible and suits hazel, warm green, honey, and light brown tones. Avoid light blue/green can sometimes look disconnected from the warmth of the skin.

Medium-dark or tan skin pairs best with dark green, hazel and amber since these enhance eye visibility without breaking facial balance. Lighter colours (blue/green/grey) can look unnatural in this range.

Dark skin works best with lighter brown, golden honey, deep hazel, or subtle green tones, which increase eye definition while staying coherent with high melanin contrast. Any other type contact lenses will look extremely retarded.

WARNING

Every case is different and changing your eye colour incorrectly may completely cuck you (don't waste money on lenses if the benefit is marginal and beware of how it can actually negatively impact you.)
