Unsure about bimax surgery

I'm getting a bimax surgery in less than 2 weeks with Dr Kater (Frankfurt am Main, Germany) i want it for aesthetics only. I worked so hard for it and i'm so hyped up but i found out that his osteotomy technique for the mandibular isn't that good for aesthetics. I'm getting Genioplasty with the bimax and you can't move my bottom jaw that much, because my occlusion is perfect, and my maxilla isn't that recessed. Should i cancel the surgery or have a talk with him about my problems? I wan't the best possible results and i don't know if i can get it with this cut...

your probably right, but it's so hard to do... he's a good surgeon and the lefort 1 and genio will ascend me, i planned the surgery since june 2025 and all those daydreams about coming to school after 3 weeks and having a big glowup... it's so hard to do but your probably right

look at the pic, i can also send you a 2min video from a surgery he performed, you will see the cut is not ideal for looks... his cut is perfect for function and his genio and lefort 1 are good. hes a very experienced surgeon but his bsso cut is rather for function than looks

Why did you elect to go to him in the first place then? Lack of vetting him as a surgeon and you just wanted to get the surgery ASAP? Understandable but I'd probably cancel if I was in your position if you are looking for aesthetic improvement and already have proper function.
What did he even say in your consultations if the location of his cut is for functionality rather than aesthetics? Did he preface that the result might not be as good as you would otherwise expect with a Bimax*?

Bimax is not for aesthetics. Bimax gives you a good base to do the aesthetics work on via implants/fillers

i didnt talk to him yet, i had a talk with his second surgeon, ill talk to him 1 day before the surgery. the surgery is functioinal and aesthetic, i'm paying everything myself and i'm 17. I personally think that the cut isnt good for aethetics and asked chat gpt if i'm right (i know it sounds dumb) chat gpt said its the "obwegeser" bsso cut and it isnt that good for aesthetics due to the inability of doing greater movements. im still getting genioplasty just for looks and his lefort 1 cut is very good. His bsso osteotomy is very safe and a good cut but you cant advance the jaw more than 6mm with it... thats the problem, its the cut he often performs but i dint know his exact plans for me

If you can't move the lower jaw very much anyway (as said in your initial post here) because your occlusion is already ideal, then I don't see an issue with modest advancement. Just be conscious that the outcome might be underwhelming.
Assuming that you can't move the upper and lower jaw a proportionately-large amount (i.e., you can't be advanced further than what would otherwise occur in this surgery) then don't worry.
I would've consulted multiple surgeons though... I guess something to do for next time.

His point was that if you do not lack functionality, then Bimax is redundant for aesthetics, but there can still be aesthetic improvement with Bimax even if you aren't necessarily recessed and don't have OSA nor any other related issues.

would be very cool, hes a rather conservative surgeon but very experienced, i`m getting a bimax + genioplasty and maybe a slight CCW, do a rather conservative morph, if you like

i was already fucking around before you wrote the message so not conservative at all, idk what surgeries would needed to mimic this result, bit too ogre perhaps
changes made:
ccw+forward movement on the entire midface
made mandible taller and moved chin forward
rhinoplasty, made the nose a bit more upturned at the tip and added more projection to the radix
browridge, moved it forward and angled it down. also changed lateral eyebrow tilt
