Hey guys, i wanted to share a cost-effective approach that i'll be experimenting with for oral minoxidil since i haven't seen an in depth post about this just saw this. I got 3x60ml (180ml total) of 50mg/ml (5%) minoxidil solution for only 22€ which was on sale at a german online-pharmacy.
I was using it for a couple of weeks topically but i found it akward since it's just another thing i would have to take time out of my day for, which is why i looked more into taking it orally. The active ingredient is exactly the same (minoxidil). The only difference is the delivery vehicle.
At low doses (2.5–5 mg), the tiny volume needed (0.05–0.1 ml) means you're ingesting only a very small amount of the solvents (ethanol + propylene glycol). Many people have been experimenting with this because the concentration is high enough that you only need 1–4 drops per dose, and the systemic effects are what we actually want for hair growth (oral works through the bloodstream). It delivers consistent dosing compared to topical absorption, which varies by person.
My effective cost: ~0.20€ per month at 2.5mg/day
Minoxidil tablets: ~3.4€ per month at 2.5mg/day
If you like me don't have a pipette, you can take a empty serum bottle or vitamin bottle which has one, just make sure to clean it properly. Most people also have or can easily get an insulin Syringe, especialy peptidecels. As you probably won't know how many ml one drop of a randop pipette is, and they can actually vary, you can do this trick i did to find out:
- Dispense 10 drops from your pipette into a clean spoon or container
- Suck up all the liquid with the insulin syringe or remove the plunger and drop 10 in there instead
- Note how many units it measures (e.g. 25 units = 0.25ml)
My result: 10 drops = 25 units (0.25ml) → 1 drop ≈ 0.025ml
So this is the dosage to follow according to that result.
2.5mg minoxidil ≈ 2 drops
5mg minoxidil ≈ 4 drops
To take the minoxidil you can mix the drops in a bit of water or juice and take it before bed.
Hope this helps!
