Second post here. One thing I’ve noticed lately is that I look noticeably worse in the morning, bloated, uneven, and completely unstyleable hair. It’s not just in my head either, I’ve tried taking pictures and the difference between AM and PM is huge. Obviously I never look good but at least I look normal at work but in the morning no one would even employ me looking like this.
Here’s what might be causing it (but I’m not sure):
– My face looks swollen in the morning, especially around the eyes and cheeks. I’ve read it could be water retention or sleep-related.
– My hair looks greasy/clumpy or flat almost every morning, even when I washed it the night before. If I don’t rewash it, I look like I didn’t even try.
– I recently switched to sulfate-free shampoo + conditioner. Before that, I used cheap shampoo from Home Bargains for years and never used conditioner at all.
– I’m trying to wash less often to avoid overstripping my hair, but it’s hard when it looks bad almost every day.
I got some advice from my last post that due to my head shape I should go for longer hair over shorter to hide it but if this is what short hair looks like idk how I would ever grow it out, I feel like I just need like 1 consistent hair style and if i use gel everyday for like a month to get it in that position naturally compared to looking homeless and different in every picture I take.
Here’s my current skincare and supplement stack for context:
Skincare
– Morning: No.7 Vitamin C toner, The Ordinary Niacinamide + Zinc, No.7 Future Renew Moisturiser
– Evening: Micellar Water, Glycolic Acid, 15% Niacinamide, The Ordinary Retinol, Cerave Night Moisturiser
Supplements
– Morning: 30g whey, goji berries, pumpkin seeds, omega 3-6-9
– Evening: Omega 3-6-9, zinc, magnesium, whey again
– Also using: Collagen, biotin, vitamin D3, ashwagandha, creatine
I’ve attached a few pics taken straight after waking up, even on PC which I think uses some filter to make you look better I'm still screwed, can't even hide the hair on calls with headphones

Questions
1. Is this kind of bloat normal? Anything I can do to reduce it long-term?
2. How are people styling hair without washing it daily? Do I just need to accept daily washes?
3. Is there a good routine to train the scalp/hair to stop overproducing oil?
4. Should I be looking at diet or sleep changes for the face issue? What worked for you?
If anyone has fixed this kind of thing or knows where to start, I’d really appreciate it. I'm tracking all changes now and will keep posting logs here as things (hopefully) improve.
