Even the thought of our thoughts as human beings (metacognition), is caused by neurotransmitters in our brain, which we ultimately have no control over. Given that to make decisions or do anything, your brain needs to have signals, ultimately every decision you’ve made was not within your control. We’re made to believe that we have free will, but we’re ultimately only spectators of our own lives, rather than true players. Engaged spectators at the least, given that human beings have emotions about the events that occur in our lives, unlike insentient species.
