- age"

Acromegaly_Chad doesn't mention what age. Are there any studies that show what age there is a higher risk for nerve damage when getting jaw surgery and what age nerve cells are less likely to regenerate and be back at 100%?

So you're saying at 30 you're at a higher risk for nerve damage? Any studies for this?

No clue man, but if ur jaw is recessed u should go ahead with surgery no matter the risks.

its a temporary side effect since its sensory (small fibres)

Well losing sensation in your chin, lips, teeth and mouth is not much fun so it's something that has to be considered especially if you're at a higher risk for it no matter how much benefit the surgery could give you. It could be a huge trade off. Especially if at a certain age it won't regenerate as fast or at all and more likely to become permanent nerve damage.

Nerve damage = your chin is a little numb. It's not like you're not going to be able to walk.

That's a good case scenario if you end up with nerve damage, but that could assume much younger age when you got the surgery. The damage could be much worst than that - losing sensation in your chin, lips, teeth and mouth not to mention constant pain. Just look at jawsurgeryforums emotional support sub: https://jawsurgeryforums.com/index.php?board=2.0

But permanent nerve damage is already a bad case scenario that represents only a minority of cases. Of those a good case scenario is probably more likely than a bad one.

I'm 3 weeks post trimax at 39 years of age (40 in a month). I have no loss of sensation in upper lip, palate, or tongue. I can feel my teeth coming back online. There's a bit of sensation in my lower lip. My chin is completely numb.

It probably has more to do with being an out of shape piece of shit, who eats like shit, smokes, is chronically vitamin D deficient, and an alcoholic. It's just old people are more likely to be that.

It’s not a big deal at all even if the sensation doesn’t come back fully, 2 months post-op chin and lower lip still numb and it hasn’t bothered me at all.

And If you’re young and healthy then you should make a full recovery in terms of nerve damage eventually

What made you get the surgery at this age? Did you consider it in the past?

Yeah, I've wanted it since I discovered it. When I originally started looking into it I was on jawsurgeryforums and the common knowledge there was that almost no one does CCW rotation and if you want a good aesthetic result you have to go to Arnett and Gunson and pay $50,000-$100,000. I also didn't think you could get jaw surgery if your bite was good, or at least insurance wouldn't pay for it, so I thought it was a pipe dream. Even 5 years ago there weren't a ton of international surgeons with results on Instagram. There was always Raffaini but I just assumed he was as expensive as Arnett and Gunson.

How's the swelling now?

It's going down slowly, but I still look like monkey. I'm not worried because the pictures I took immediately after surgery don't look that way. It's probably a good idea to take pictures then, if you can, so you can remind yourself that it's just swelling. It's more the placement of the swelling than the amount of swelling. Some people seem to have no swelling in this region and they look normal much more quickly, like this dude is 7 days post in the afters:

Could you share pics if possible?

You didn't really look chimpmaxxxed/over-advanced in the last pic you sent me. And I have seen a fair number of results like that. Are you sure it isn't in your head?

Yeah, I'll DM in a bit. Yeah, I'm sure. It's not chimpmaxxed/over-advanced; it's just swelling above upper lip and around the nose, like if you were blowing air into that region to do monkey face.
