Had a bad eczema flare up when I introduced tret into my routine, I mostly want fine wrinkles and hyperpigmentation gone. I will introduce tret but on only a select few areas like my forehead and nose + diluted later but for now I don’t want to risk it again.

What alternatives can I use, I have niacinimide 10% it’s actually quite soothing on my skin and eczema/sensitive skin friendly but other than that + moisturiser, sunscreen and cleanser I don’t have anything else. Looking for suggestions that can help

Alpha arbutin, azelaic acid, tranexamic acid, vitamin c ( in L- ascorbic acid form), retinol maybe if tret is too strong for you skin

Alpha arbutin looks interesting I can buy it for cheap nearby looks good for my skin issues, I don’t think I need Azelaic acid because that’s mostly for acne but thanks for the suggestion appreciate it

when you eventually introduce tret again apply your regular non irritating moisturiser, then aquaphor, then your tret. 1-2 times per week and work up.

Suggested Azelaic acid cause it helps in fading hyperpigmentation too, but yeah it may irritate your skin if it's sensitive also using a good hydrating moisturizer with ceramides and hyaluronic acid helps eczema too so buy a good one which has both, if you still want to use tret start with 0.025% and use it 3 times a week with sandwich method ( moisturizer - tret - moisturizer), stop usage if it still irritates your skin and damage your skin barrier better go for retinol then it's good for fine lines and wrinkles too

Yea ive got a good moisturiser and cleanser with HA and ceramides (CeraVe is a good brand tbh) my eczema is at bay but its quite sensitive and prone to flare ups, as a young teen I had horrid eczema and abused Corticosteroid creams for too long to cope with eczema and its caused hyperpigmentation in those areas along with just worse and sensitive skin which is apparently due to reduced dermis thickness. Whats the main difference between retinol and tret is it just the potency?

Yep tretinoin is 20 times more potent than retinol and achieves faster results, both have the same benefits but because of it's potency it has more side effects than retinol too and that's why many dermatologist suggest retinol over tretinoin to the people with sensitive skin tho the results are slower the side effects are less harsher too like less chances of purging, skin flaking, PIH and PIE
