What do I do with my hair?

Pls dont mind my subhuman face.I wanna grow my hair out more but I feel like most of the time my sides are too bulky and there is too much volume on the top. Now dont get me wrong I look nothing like bojack but i think his hairstyles would suit me i just dont know how to style them and get them. Barbers in my area are pretty shit so I have to cut it myself. Or if you have any other recommendations pls let me know

Go to a salon and get a cut like a messy fringe kinda like Chico barbers don’t know how to style hair
