What do you think about malar osteotomy?

I have sunken cheeks. Was thinking about getting an osteotomy instead of implants.
Many surgeons are doing this surgery in my country!

Implants allow you to refine the shape more, an osteotomy is a worse recovery, higher risk for not much benefit

But implants are mostly botched! And they may have higher risks in the long term?
Also if you do professional sports I think you can’t do implants because that may get displaced?

If implants are botched they can be replaced. It's hard to reverse a botched osteotomy

i assume you mean a zygomatic sandwich osteotomy and no theyre horrible and awfully niche I think its one guy in switzerland that does it IIRC

lol literally like 1/3 surgeon does it in my country!
For some surgeons here it’s a like an extra that they will do if the patient wants it!
Bro surgeons here do crazy stuff.
Like I myself had a high le fort 1. He cut below my orbitals.

Wow @Genz2002 , can you elaborate more on your jaw surgery? Who is your surgeon? did you get implants during that operation? What were your movements (upper, lower, genio -- if any)? Cost? I rarely hear about high LeFort 1.

I had an underbite! TBH, results are underwhelming. Sure it had an effect on my midface but implants imo would have more significant results!
