I was sitting in my chair contemplating this, and I've grown absolutely fearful of what awaits us after death.

I've browsed 6 core theories of afterlife, and I want to share them here, with the hopes of finding out which one you resonate with the most, or if you have any other theories.

(1) Heaven/Hell
> After death, souls are judged and sent to either heaven or hell, based on their actions, faith, or morality during life.

(2) Reincarnation :feelsgood:
> After death, a soul is reborn into a new body, experiencing multiple lives.

(3) Spirit World
> A realm where the souls of the dead continue to exist, often interacting or watching over the living.

(4) No Afterlife :feelswhy:
> The belief that consciousness ends after death, and there is no continuation of existence beyond ones life time. (basically endlessly sleeping)

(5) Simulation
> The theory our entire existence is part of a highly advanced computer simulation, created by either future humans or advanced civilizations, or unknown higher intelligences. Within this view, life and death may not be final, and death can simply mean logging out of the program, perhaps returning to the "real world" outside of the program. (theories varies.)

(6) Eternal Recurrence
> A philosophical idea that life endlessly repeats in the exact same sequence, meaning every moment you live has already happened and will happen again infinitely.

I believe no afterlife is the most plausible, although most frightening. I'd love for reincarnation to exist personally.

Anyways, dear reader, which do you find most comfort in? Let me know, because I'm equally conflicted.

wholeheartedly believe endless sleeping, but sometimes I believe its heaven/hell. I find spirit world cool though I'd want that to be true

I always get stuck there not sure if it does exist but I also believe if God is real he obviously could create that and judge our souls based on the "sin"s we commit while alive

sometimes i ignore the idea of heaven and hell
and think about the idea of a no afterlife
and the idea of being nothing
horrifies me
you go from something to nothing and it will stay like that forever

Yea but my fist problem with that is: if god created all souls, he would put them in places on earth where he knew different actions would shape them into bad people and then sending them to hell or heaven based on who’s the luckiest soul. The second problem is: if god exists and he made a physical world where physical rules exists and then get what we he wants from us there is no reason for him to make an afterlife for us as there’s not really any reason for god to be β€œfair” although we all have this belief in all religions. He could just use us as meat slaves and then end our conciseness. But idk don’t know

absolutely fearful of what awaits us
We have fears so that we can avoid harm, thus the fear of death is pointless.
Funnily enough, my biggest fears are helplessness, the unavoidable and the inescapable.

basically endlessly sleeping

I understand what you mean but if god places you in a place where you see and feel horrible things then your brain slowly gets broken and then leads you to do the same things. What I’m trying to say is that your fate is locked as soon as you’re born because nothing is in your control.

Its the same state as when u were before being concieved into a womb you wont even know it
Theres always a posibility for eternal reoccurence, simulation and a spirit world but highly unlikely✌️ although heaven and hell are the most fantasy liked but unfortunately definetely not what happens after death

I dont really get your point. Just because theres someone that thinks its okay doesnt mean it is okay. Its still "his" fault that he has that twisted perspective on things. After all you still can change your perspective.
Just because i think murder is okay doesnt mean it is and i can still change my view on that.

Interesting thread

Logically, no afterlife and eternal recurrence seem the most likely, although i hate the concept of the latter. Eternal recurrence in particular is nightmarish for me, you’re forever barred from any sort of resolution or closure, and you’ll never even realize it. No afterlife is pretty sad to think about, but it seems merciful compared to the other options.

Simulation would make me kill myself once I get back to the β€œreal world.” I don’t think I could ever re-adjust or recover from finding out everything i went through and built for myself is a lie.

Reincarnation is ok ig, depending on how it works. Am I born into a Chad with all my memories? Am I born inbred in a 3rd world country? Am I reborn as a dung beetle?

Spirit world is the most appealing to me. I hope that’s the one that’s real. Heaven/hell is a close second but the concept of hell itself is horrifying, and the division between heaven and hell seems arbitrary asf.

So reincarnation, no afterlife, simulation, or eternal recurrence? If you did enough mental gymnastics you could probably theorize that some of the original list happens at the same time.

Why do you think that? There is still free will, doesnt matter if he is all knowing. Just because he knows, doesnt mean he decides.
