YES, they only know from word of mouth and tradition what to believe. The nail cutting thing is from hadith(not Quran) and a million other ridiculous superstitions that aren’t in the Quran. And it isn’t just my family, EVERYONE in my Turkish/georgian Muslim community is like this. They don’t know Arabic, they don’t read the Quran, they don’t know anything beyond surface level understanding and teachings. My friends in this community all claim to be Muslim and yet know nothing about the faith when I try to talk to them about it.
